In rural areas where most employment consists of subsistence farming and unemployment rates exceed thirty percent, people need skills and training to compete for scarce jobs in their communities; they need access to credit to start their own small businesses; they need a more profitable alternative to what they’ve always done.

$80     Beehive and other materials to train a small farmer in beekeeping in El Salvador
$150     Tools and vocational training for an AIDS orphan in Uganda
$250     Set of farm tools for 2 displaces farming families in Colombia
$500     Micro-credit fund for 10 farmers or entrepreneurs in the Philippines
$1000     Matching grant program to start 20 small-scale businesses in India
$5000     Mechanical peeling machine to prepare beans for export by farmers in Bolivia

 

The dollar amounts listed for items associated with each Gift Square represent the cost of providing the items and/or support services or training. Each gift you make is symbolic and represents a contribution to the entire mission of LWR, to be used where needed most.
