Our faith assures us of God’s final peace while calling us to work for an earthly peace. And while we rejoice in the promise of eternal peace, we live with the tragic reality that every year around the world, millions of families’ lives and livelihoods are endangered, and entire communities are displaced due to conflicts - over scarce resources like land or water, between ethnic or religious groups, or over political and social control. In many places, addressing issues of hunger, poverty, and suffering cannot begin until conflicts are resolved and there is peace.

$40     A week of food for a refugee family in Liberia
$80     Primary health care for 5 patients in Gaza
$150     C onflict resolution and peace building training for a multi-ethnic community in the Philippines
$250     Peace building and civic awareness training for 12 women's groups in Sri Lanka
$500     Natural resource management training for 6 communities competing over scarce water and pasture land in Kenya
$1000     A year of support for 5 churches that serve as sanctuaries from the
armed conflict in Colombia
$5000     Formation of a Peace Council and training in conflict resolution for
local leaders from warring factions in Sudan

The dollar amounts listed for items associated with each Gift Square represent the cost of providing the items and/or support services or training. Each gift you make is symbolic and represents a contribution to the entire mission of LWR, to be used where needed most.
